The Christian Service Commission of St. Andrew Parish is privileged to sponsor outreach programs in a broad area of human needs. Our current volunteer/ministry services include:

Tithing Committee
Meets monthly to disburse tithing allocations of the parish.  10% of each weekend collection goes to support charitable agencies.

Baldwin Center – Pontiac
Help prepare and serve the noonday meal on the 2nd Wed. and 4th Sat. of each month. 9:30 am – 2 pm. Confirmation students are welcome.

Volunteer — Baldwin Center

Blood Drive (Red Cross)
Assist twice a year with various tasks for the blood drives which are held in the Activities Building. Advance training is required by Red Cross (18 years plus)

Care and Share Monthly Collection
Parishioners donate staple food and/or personal care items on the first Sunday of every month for distribution to area food banks and outreach agencies

Christmas Giving Tree Team
Participate in the planning & collection of gifts for needy families and institutionalized adults. October & November preparations for early December deliveries.

Easter Basket Outreach Planning Team
Assist with the collection of various age appropriate gifts for needy families Palm Sun. – Holy Wed. Flowers ordered & delivered to nursing homes residents.

Gospel of Life Committee
Parishioners meet to discuss the sacredness of life issues (womb to tomb) and share information with the parish through various methods including bulletin articles, letter writing campaigns, etc. Involvement includes Right to Life Christmas Card Sales, Walking with Moms in Need, Pro-Life Advocacy Issues. (youth & adult parishioners)

Jail Outreach Ministry, Oakland County
Tend to the spiritual needs of the incarcerated in the Oakland County Jail system through a variety of programs like Communion services, Christmas programs, etc. (18 years plus)

Operation Sunshine
A developmentally disabled adult group home is visited by Operation Sunshine volunteers who celebrate resident’s birthdays, play BINGO, and serve treats on the 2nd Thursday evening of each month. St. Andrew Church hosts an annual Christmas Party.

St. Vincent De Paul Conference Helpers
Join in assisting with projects like the spring/fall Clothing Drives +, making donations to the poor, summer youth camps, etc. Anyone wishing to volunteer their professional expertise (i.e.: doctors, lawyers, plumbers, carpenters, etc.) are needed. Parish Vincentians meet monthly to pray and discuss the needs of the Conference and community. Vincentians are available to make home visits to people in crisis.

Visiting Eucharistic Ministers
Bring Holy Communion on a daily basis to the Catholic patients (in the morning) at Crittenton Hospital, with a monthly schedule rotation Parishioners are trained for this ministry and hospital requires & provides a yearly T.B. test. (over 18 years old)

Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers
Neighbors helping neighbors. The Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers Program provides assistance to our older and disabled neighbors who need a little extra help. Many frail and physically challenged adults in our community struggle daily to maintain their independence — our helping hands often make it possible for them to remain in their own homes. Needlework Ministry
Have you considered joining a group that gathers Saturday mornings at 10 a.m., in the Parish Center to knit or crochet items that benefit various charities? We support Beaumont Neonatal Intensive Care, Haven, Neighborhood House, Jail Outreach, Crossroad Care Center and more. If you know how to knit or crochet, we have patterns and supplies.

St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Oakland – Pontiac
St. Joseph Mercy Oakland (SJMO) is always in need of caring individuals who can volunteer to help in various areas of the hospital. We consider each volunteer to be an integral part of our health care team who freely gives of their time, talent and resources to help SJMO carry out its mission and core values of service to the community.

Volunteers must be at least 15 years of age, be a U.S. Citizen and have a social security number. Ages 15-17 will need to have a parent consent form signed to volunteer. We ask those wanting to volunteer to commit to at least four hours a week.
