The goal of the middle school program is to support, encourage and challenge young people on their faith journey. We work with parents to help their youngsters meet Jesus, pray on a regular basis, value the traditions and practices of the Catholic Church and reach out to build the Kingdom of Jesus in our world today.
Our Sixth grade Religious Education classes focus on the Bible and our faith ancestors from the Hebrew Scriptures. We use the Blest Are We series published by Silver Burnet Ginn. At the beginning of the year each sixth grade student is given an age appropriate Bible. After spending the beginning weeks on the Bible, answering such questions as: What kind of writings are in it? When was it written? How is it divided? We move to a close look at our faith ancestors beginning with Abraham and ending with Maccabees.
Our Seventh Grade Religious Education classes focus on Jesus and Social Justice issues. We use the Blest Are We series published by Silver Burnet Ginn. The book covers Jesus’ life and mission and the coming of the Kingdom of God. We supplement the text with lessons on Prejudice, the Corporal Works of Mercy, and Conflict Resolution.
Our Eighth Grade Religious Education students take an in-depth look at the basics of the Catholic Church as they prepare for Confirmation. We use Send Out Your Spirit published by Ave Maria Press. We cover such topics as the people and places in the Church, Creed, Scripture, the Marks of the Church, Morality, Social Justice, the Mass, and their Vocation.
