The purpose of the Communications Ministry is to facilitate parish communications that enhance understanding and increase participation in parish activities in support of the mission and goals of St. Andrew parish, its staff, council, and commissions. This Ministry seeks to foster best practices in the use of existing media, explore new communications tools where appropriate, and support parish groups in effectively communicating their activities and programs.
Some Completed Projects
- Interviewed 35 parish leaders to identify communications needs.
- Recommended ‘readability’ improvements for the bulletin, Liturgy & Life.
- Developed guidelines for use of available media for parish activities.
- Surveyed parishioners for website needs/wants; have recently implemented a number of the suggestions.
Current and Future Goals
- Website – continually improve function, addressing users’ survey suggestions; keep it current & informative.
- Optimize the use of e-mail, to include subscriptions and generic contacts.
- Develop & present in-service programs such as e-mail protocol and web-page management, as needs are identified.
- Document website & e-mail operational methods for future reference.
- Address other communications needs as they are identified.
