Mission Statement:
This most recently formed commission is dedicated to the building of the kingdom of God through the sharing of time, talent, resources and treasure of parishioners with all St. Andrew parishioners and area church.
The commission strives to enhance the functions of the Parish membership as an extended family with all the responsibilities and benefits resulting for caring for one another.
The Parish Life Commission exists as a model and resource to address the needs and wants of individuals, families and the entire Parish community by empowering members of the Parish to address Parish internal needs at the Parish level through it’s seven Ministries.

Current Objectives:
Bereavement Ministry is a service to parish families who have lost a loved one. They plan to continue the following activities.
- Visit funeral homes and attend funerals
- Participate in Funeral Luncheons
- Participate with the “Songs of Life Choir”
- Send cards, “Care Notes” and letters for at least one year
- Personal visitations as requested
- Contact during the holidays and anniversaries
- Act as resource to additional community assistance organizations as required.
Career Mentoring Ministry is educational and support activities for the unemployed, and those in career transition. Seminars and one-on-one meetings are scheduled continuously in the following topics:
- Resume writing
- Job search tools and Networking
- Interviewing skills
- Follow-up
- Emotional stability in a time of great stress on the job seeker and their family
- Asset preservation during unemployment (home)
- Assist the “Over 61 Group” – Resources and counseling
Communication Ministry facilitates all parish media in support of parish activities and programs. Their goals are to:
- Improve web site content and use by parishioners
- Develop and optimize the use of intra-parish e-mail system
- Develop and present an e-mail protocol and web page management system
- Recommend and support additional improvements to the weekly parish bulletin
- Upgrade and maximize use of the info screens in the church and chapel
- Work for upgrades and improvements to the electronic audio, visual and broadcast capabilities in the church
- Explore the possibility of the Sunday homily or even the whole Mass presentation on TV or via internet for home viewing.
Elderly/Homebound Ministry strives to be a social connection to individuals who would benefit from a visit from a fellow parishioner. They will continue:
- Home and nursing home visits
- Eucharistic Ministers
- Follow up cards and letters
- Referrals to the use of the CD4U program from the Education Commission
- Be a resource to additional community assistance organizations as required
Social Ministry promotes opportunities for parish members to meet and strengthen fellowship through parish sponsored activities such as, but not limited to:
- Young family fellowship
- Singles Group – Age 45 and up
- Parish Picnic
- Card clubs
- Dances
- Hospitality receptions
- Hosting outside entertainment venues
- Mom-to-Moms Club
Welcoming Ministry provides the first formal welcome to new parishioners at the monthly registration activity by providing:
- A warm, welcoming hospitable atmosphere
- Providing a current take-a-way package of St. Andrew information
- Make available copies of the current Parish Directory
- Invite representatives of the various Parish Commissions to respond to questions
- Follow up in a timely manner to all questions not answered at the reception
